After having side effects w/ oral finasteride, I stopped which caused my hair to revert and fall out. So wanted to restart finasteride but w/o taking it orally, hoping it reduce the side effects. Looked at but no easy way to get topical finasteride decided to try creating topical finasteride based on minoxidil.
There's another more elaborate post on creating a better solution but you have to be a pharmacist to create its so I figured easiest is just using minoxidil which I use already ...
Using my prescription finasteride 1 mg tablet 30 pills which costs $25 frompharmacists and using minoxidil as the solution base. Basically take 8 pills crushed and put into 60 ML bottle. This is not scientific but I was taking about .25 mg down to .1mg per day of finasteride so that's about 3-4 pills per month and it was controlling my hair loss. So about 6-8 pills in 60 ML minonixidil bottle and using 1 ML of this solution per day ball park worked out. Like I said, this is not scientific since absorption is not 100%, not sure affect on finasteride when in minoxidil solution etc etc etc. Optionally you can do another 1 ML of pure minoxildil since your suppose todo at night and morning but I only do 1 ML of the mixture.
I've been using it for about 4 months, seem like the hair fall out has stopped, i still do have some of the side effects so it seems to be getting absorbed into the scalp/blood stream. If anything, I feel I'm doing something to prevent my hair loss w/o getting freaked out about the side effects of finasteride.
I'm not a doctor, medical researcher of any type, do this at at my own risk and you should consult your medical professional if you plan to do any medication of any type ... etc etc.
