Tom Hardy's Hair - Thinning? Or Just Thin Hair?

Tom hardy was quickly making his way onto my list of favorite actors, and his roles in the revenant and Mad Max sealed the deal. Whenever I watch him, I become interested in how thin his hair looks in certain scenes. Look at this pic and tell me that either his hair is not thinning out, or he just naturally has thin hair. I would never leave the house looking like this, yet when my hair is wet, it looks exactly like this.
