Hey guys,
Here's my story:
1) On accutane when I was 23. Prior to this I had thick (very thick, often commented on) hair but always had high temples.
2) Post-accutane a few months and my hair thinned out a bit. I posted this gallery: http://imgur.com/a/32FFc to this site but it wasn't really much there at that point.
3) Fast forward a few months and I thought it was getting worse, went to my derm and he said "Nope, not male pattern baldness".
4) Fast forward to yesterday after a year of decline and my derm has reversed his opinion: "Yep, it's male pattern baldness, here's a script for Proscar cut it into quarters". Same Doctor who gave me accutane but didn't acknowledge any correlation there of course
Album from today (25 years old as of August, hair is just under 1inch): http://imgur.com/a/EVVVU
I wanted to get some confirmation before embarking on this lifelong drug that this does look like male pattern baldness. I'm not really concerned about temple recession as, again, it was like that since I was 18. More concerned about the thinning on the top of my head.
My hair seems to be the most thin right in the middle, in a strip running from the hairline to ~1/2 way up the head. Is this consistent with male pattern baldness? I should note that I have struggled with sebhorreic dermatitis for the last year, however my derm said my current scalp health is overall good. I've never had a big 'shed', but I have noticed that the hairs I lose are often 'kinked', very thin/brittle, etc.
Thanks so much for your help guys, this forum is awesome!
Cheers
