Severe and prolonged hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism can cause loss of hair. The loss is diffuse and involves the entire scalp rather than discrete areas. The hair appears uniformly sparse. Regrowth is usual with successful treatment of the thyroid disorder, though it will take several months and may be incomplete.
Poor blood flow to scalp causes hair loss. Another common cause of continued hair loss in Hashimoto's patients is poor circulation. The hairfollicles need a constant supply of nutrient-rich blood. If circulation to the scalp is compromised, hair loss is inevitable.

Many of the sides such as heat intolerance, excessive sweating, not being able to memorize or concentrate are INDISPUTABLE sides I’ve had for years while on levothyroxine. And my tsh is at 0,8 at perfect value and so are my t4,ft4,t3 and ft3. I am on 112mg of Tyrosint. And so I ask myself what the f*** is going on.
Now my theory is that that we are actually taking too much but blood tests won’t show it. There is no other way to explain it. Some say that going off the meds and fixing thyroid by restarting its function saved them, they felt sick while on thyroid meds. And I’ve started losing a f*** tone of hair the moment I got on 25mg of the cheap levo when I was 16. We are talking massive shedding.
