How annoying! I'm asking this again...

The past year and a bit I have been keenly obeying the directions on the bottle saying I should wait until my hair is totally dry before applying my 2ml of 7% minoxidil liquid. Recently, upon adding 1ml of Regaine 5% liquid every morning, I have been wetting my hair slightly before applying it... then massaging it into my hair and styling for work / my day. I find if I don't wet the hair I don't seem to cover all of my scalp with the liquid (1ml doesn't seem enough) and I find the hair to be unmanageable and won't lie the way I want it to.

Is is such a bad thing to have damp or wet hair when applying minoxidil? What about straight after a shower? Why do they specifically say it needs to be on dry hair / scalp?

I could google these things in a flash, but really trust the people on this forum a lot more with questions like this...

they say it needs to be on a dry scalp because a wet scalp increases systemic absorption and that can lead to health risks

HOWEVER! i often apply it to a slightly wet scalp in order to do exactly that, increase absorption :)

it just seems to sit there if your scalp isnt a bit wet.

Thanks guys... yeah, I'd heard it was to do with absorption, but hadn't really heard about any health risks associated with it. I'm gonna keep applying to damp hair in the mornings, as it's so much easier. I'll just keep my fingers crossed that I don't sprout a tail or a third eye, but rather some more hair in front. :)

Its called dispersion. Wet scalp or damp scalp will cause dispersion weakening the minoxidil's ability to absorb. Its like adding to much water to cordial. (The cordial being the minoxidil).

Its common sense really.
