Well, I was just sitting at my computer and ran my hands thru the hair on the back of my neck and about 10 of hairs came out. I did it again and the same thing happened. So I decided to run my hands thru the top of my head and the sides. I did it twice and only one hair came out. Now, I have seen a ton of shedding in the shower and just assumed it was from my scalp as a result of a shed from the proscar. I have been growing my hair for about 6 months so this is just the first time my hair has ever gone down this far on my neck, about 3 inches below the ears. Anyone have any idea why this would be. I had swore that my hair has looked a bit thicker this past month (6th month on Proscar), but this was not indicative of what i saw in the shower for shed hairs. Are the hairs in this region generally easier to pull out? My hair is super thick back there anyway so I am not too concerned with it, just wonering what may be the cause.

Yes, when you do shed, you can shed hair from areas that are typically not prone to male pattern baldness.

if your loosing hair in the back dont worry at all, you never see a person bald in that area. just normal shedding. 8)

Unless he has Alopecia Totalis or Areata, then he will really be in for some shedding no matter the location on his head.

Nah, no topicals for me, I like my hair longer and they would be too much of a pain, besides, I am just into maintenance.

I noticed that the hairs back where the shedding is occuring are much thinner than everywhere else and alot softer.

hmm, well I do know that finasteride can cause sheds from areas all over the head, even from areas that are not effected by male pattern baldness. I wouldnt worry about it right now.
