This is miniaturization correct? So any possible time lines.

I don't know for how long but for at least the past 2 years I have noticed hairs falling off my head. My bathroom floor has short hairs on it, not a lot, but if you look they are clearly visible, and when sitting at my table, a few hairs fall out every now and then.

These hairs have always been shorter than my actual hair length, and I never thought much about it, but now after reading up on these forums, I think these hairs that have been falling off are miniaturized hairs, or at least hairs that are slowly miniaturizing. Here are two pics I took today, the three strands on the left are hairs from the top of my head that i cut with some scissors, so they are not full length, and the three on the right are hairs that have just fallen off.

The two samples obviously look different, with the hairs on the right being thinner, so am I correct to assume that those hairs are miniaturizing.

Also, I know each person is different, but assuming this has been going on for 2 years and the pictures are the current state of my hairs, how much longer could I have before noticeable thinning?

People will struggle to answer because it's mainly down to the individuals genetics, but i'd say that looks like thinning. If some of those hairs are from the front then it could just be a mature hair line developing.

People shed all the time anyway, people can look too much into shedding, there's a bit of a clue in the fact you say this has been going on for two years .. when will it be noticeable?.

Would you say the thinning is noticeable now, do you have any pics of your crown / hairline?

Don't worry about people saying "That isn't male pattern baldness, what are you doing here?", lets try and establish some facts and see what the best way forward for you is, because if you need to take action and do then the real answer to when will it be noticeable? might well be, Never!

I had made an earlier thread about crown thinning, but will repost some pictures here. I can't really say whether or not there has been crown thinning, but its possible.

As for now, there is no noticeable thinning, but I feel like its easier to see into my scalp now than before.

I would say one side of my hairline has definitely matured, while the other seems the same.

The hairs fall out mainly from the top of my head, no specific location in terms of front or back.

Also, its very rare that a really thick hair falls out, I've read that its normal to shed 50-100 hairs a day, but all of the hair that I shed seems to be the "thin" stuff.

Well the hairline looks pretty normal to me, it follows the shape of the skill and the temples having receded past the sideburns.

This is just an opinion but i think the pictures from a year ago look like there's more thinning than the more up to date ones, but then that's the problem with photos different lights and different lengths can make and as other posters said it could just be a huge cow lick, given what's changed i wouldn't be too worried about running out of time to tackle the problem, but i would recommend monitoring the situation.

I read the thread you originally posted and the advice on there is sound.

Read up on the success stories, read up on what exciting stuff is coming out in the next few years, then relax knowing if you do have to do something there's an array of tools out there.

Thanks for the advice, so at this point would my best course of action be to get the Nizoral shampoo for a sort of light treatment or precaution. Are there any severe side effects to the shampoo, in terms of long term health problems? I know everyone reacts different, but what is the general consensus on its safety.

Also, I have done some reading on Nizoral, and has there only been one study to point to some actual benefits from the shampoo, do any people here testify to the benefits of using solely that for regrowth/maintenance.

I think there's been two studies on humans using the shampoo, one study using the cream (don't bother about that) and a study on Animals (meece to be exact).

It's considered to be safe, with little systematic absorption.

I used the 2% stuff once and it left my scalp feeling red raw, there's a 1% version available though. which is supposed to be much milder and people seem to love.

I don't actually recall anybody using just nizoral on here but i'm pretty new after staying away from the boards for 5 or 6 years, you do hear anecdotal tales.

If someone was suffering hair loss for sure then i'd recommend something more than just nizoral, but until there's a clearer picture, I'd personally stop short of recommending anything more

Well I only want to use nizoral because currently I am only 18, and I don't have significant hair loss, so I don't want to risk more serious effects of Rogaine or Finasteride just yet. If using just Nizoral can keep drastic hair loss at bay till I am older or losing more hair, then I would prefer that path
