Thinning hair. What to do?

Hello guys I'm 21 years old and my hair is getting thinner and thinner. I don't know how this is related to it but I used to be really overweight. I lost around 55 lbs and after that my hair started to getting thinner and thinner. Then my doctor told me I had low iron and calcium levels. I had to take some pills so the levels get up but i never did it how he told me to do. Then i was diagnosed with Thalassemia and it all got worse.

I went to the dermatologist and he told me to use Minoxidil and some pills to get my levels up and that should help. I also have to say all men from my paternal side are suffering from hair loss. Most of them started losing their hair when they were around 23-26 but they never tried anything to stop it.

Now my question is. Are Minoxidil and some pills like biotin, zinc, iron, calcium enough to make my hair thicker again? I also heard about Arginine and Ket shampoos. And are there other shampoos which you guys could recommend? I read somewhere that Ket shampoos should only be used 2 or 3 times a week.

I want to order something asap to start fighting against my hair loss. I don't want to use finasteride because of the side effects.

So what should i buy? Can anyone recommend me something?

Here are 2 pics from 2 years ago and now. As you can see it was pretty thick 2 years ago and that was as long as i ever had my hair. I like to keep it short but i want them to be thick and not thin.

And can anyone tell me which Norwood i have

You are lucky that your hairline is still more or less intact

if you keep it that short I doubt any non balding guy suspects you're balding

You should get on finasteride ASAP and you should be good. Don't be scared of the side effects, only very a very small minority gets serious sides, and all sides will go away when you stop taking it.

If you won't take finasteride now, you will only regret not taking it earlier in a few years

Rogaine alone is a waste of time

finasteride is the active ingredient in propecia that is used for the treatment of hair loss.

How did you lose weight? Could be from longterm nutrient deficiency or stress.

But it's likely it's male pattern baldness. You are male, after all, and you are 21. Do research on finasteride (fair warning, there will be scary horror stories that will turn you away from it). Just know that the vast majority of users (including me) have not suffered from it.

I lost the weight pretty fast. Maybe too fast.

I have a question. Is the foam better than the liquid? And is there a difference between Kirkland, Rogain and Foligain? And which ket shampoo is the best? Is the Nizoral creme better than the shampoo? Could somebody please answer those questions :)

if you're gonna keep your hair short get the foam and just rub it in.
if you want to grow it out I recommend the liquid, so you can use the applicator and apply directly to scalp, and not get your hair all messy.
