Thinning Crown? Opinions would be great.

Hi guys,

I'm a 27 year old and am slightly concerned about my hair. I took a shot of the back of my head yesterday and was surprised to see that I could detect scalp.

Am I thinning on the crown or is this a normal whorl?

332.JPG[/attachment:tgnjbaiy]329.JPG[/attachment:tgnjbaiy]328.JPG[/attachment:tgnjbaiy]308.JPG[/attachment:tgnjbaiy]220.JPG[/attachment:tgnjbaiy]290.JPG[/attachment:tgnjbaiy]274.JPG[/attachment:tgnjbaiy]

My hair hadn't been washed in two days when I took these pictures (I know, lazy Easter weekend!) so could this be a factor? I ruffled my hair around a bit to get different perspectives also. It tends to look different depending on light, how I've brushed it etc.

I'm quite open to the possibility I'm being paranoid but should I see a dermatologist?

Apologies, I'm sure questions like this are posted on here regularly. Thanks in advance for any help, it's greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Any history of balding on mom or dad's side of the family?

Would also help to see the hair line (with hair pulled back).

Can't really say from these pictures, and I definitely wouldn't start any meds yet, so I don't think there's much point in going to see a derm.

Just watch it and see if it gets noticeably worse over the next year.

Keep watching it - use Nizoral (1 or 2%) shampoo twice to three times per week just as an added precaution. Definitely just looks to be a normal whorl at the moment.

Yea finfighter is right!

Congratulations Liquidradio for being on the ball. I can't tell from this set of photos but it looks like you are still ok.

You will know you are losing and under attack by DHT when you see to many shedding hairs, (more than your usual what ever that is) By combing and running your hand through your hair ye shall know my son. At 27 I would say 100 or more hairs in the sink (shower drain) on a constant basis is time to panic. Yes I know they say it is normal to lose that many per day but your a little thin and at that pace....

Seeing as you are keeping an eye out, and on the ready to attack dht if necessary, then that is everything.

Speaking from experience, you will see some thinning later on as the years go by and a blad spot if you don't act at first notice of thinning. It took me 46.5 years to see my first thinning but my hair was much much thicker than yours at 27.

I don't know . At that hair lenght if you comb your hair straight down you will get a visible part especially at the swhirl , mine does this too. It looks way fuller if you leave the hair in it's natural circular rotation at the swhirl like you did in the last pic.
That being said , increased incidence for partings can also be a sign of early thinning , if the hairline isn'T receded or thinned I wouldn't worry
