Thinning after a year on finasteride...

Started finasteride one year and 4 months ago to prevent a receding hairline. At the one year mark a random shed happened after not having any sheds at all. My hairline is thinning and the left side has receded a half inch. I was shedding like CRAZY from December- January 15 ish. I'm still shedding hair just not 100+ anymore.

I have no idea what to do. Is finasteride just not working? When this insane shed hit my scalp was a mess out of nowhere. I had to quit minoxidil because my hairline was stinging and felt bruised. Now it seems like my hair in general is starting to thin which is really odd since my family baldness pattern is receding hairline, not so much thinning.

Hate to say it, but finasteride seems to have almost sped up some type of Hairloss. Reason I say finasteride did this is because, after my massive shed cooled off a bit, I started getting pimples along my hairline and my hair was getting really greasy so fast. I never had this problem before finasteride.

Is this just a shed from finasteride? Do you usually experience painful scalp when this type of shed comes along?

Seems like a minoxidil shed, when did you stop?

Hey maxou, the shed happened while using both finasteride and minoxidil. When the shed was going on, I had to stop using minoxidil because it was making my hairline burn/sting. I used minoxidil for a year before finasteride so two years total up until this December when I quit.
