Hey All -

The more I think about it the more I want to stop Finestride for awhile. I have been on it for about 7 years with no break at all. I have cut down the dosage and that is a start. Anyway, there is no doubt that without finasteride I would be bald at this point in my life. I am looking for opinions or experiences of people who have stopped finasteride for awhile.

Basically I would like to stop taking finasteride for about 3-6 months. Just to " see " if I feel any different ( mood swings, clouded mind, always tired ) I blame these things on finasteride and the only way to find out is to stop taking it.

I know if you stop taking finasteride you lose results within 6 - 12 months. In peoples opinion ( proof would be nice ) if I stop for say 6 months do you think I will be screwing myself? Is it possible that after 6 months I just pick up where I left off and the finasteride will just continue to work?

Really could use some help here. I need to know if finasteride is screwing me up or if I would be screwed up anyway.

Thanks Man!!

6 months might be too long. You might lose a lot of ground. I would say stop for a month... or two months at most. The finasteride has to build up in your system again, and it will take a while to start seeing results again. Even after a month off, you might observe a shed when you restart.

Yep! keep the break short, maybe a couple of months and replace the finasteride with a topical like spironolactone, you may get to test your theory and keep what hair you have, good luck.
