Greetings,
I was wondering if anyone here has thin/fine hair that has resulted into your hair breaking when you brush your hair or style it using product/pomade?
While my hair isn't thinning and I have a full head of hair, it's become fine due to grey hair as the texture changes with grey hair compared to the brown hair that I used to have. So as someone that used to have very thick hair for all my life (I am 46) - weak fine hair and noticing it more in my brush is new to me.
Now to clarify, my hair is not coming out in clumps - a couple/few hairs with each brushing, but they come out so easily as I try to be very gentle with my hair. I need to strengthen my hair somehow. I suppose it's not more than the 50 to 100 strands of hair that is normal to lose everyday - but I guess you notice it more when you are aware of it and freaked out since you used to have glorious thick strong hair.
I should also point out that I have seborrheic dermatitis, so possibly that is impacting my hair in this capacity. I was told to use Ketoconazole (Nizoral) to help with my hair and flaking on my face. Apparently this is also a DHT blocker, which helps against hair loss. I ordered it, so it's on it's way.
In the meantime, Is there anything that you can recommend to help with hair breaking/shedding? Is there any product that helps with hair strengthening and elasticity, so hair isn't breaking when I am simply using a comb?
One thing I have been told is to never towel dry hair, because the towel just weakens the hair with the friction caused by the towel.
If anyone here is going down this same road, I would greatly appreciate to hear from you and any advice you may have.
Thanks,
HM
