I have been taking finasteride for 10 days and I have noticed that I am shedding hairs that are much thicker than normal. Before I would shed tons of super thin hairs like so thin that you could barely see them. Now it seems like the shedding has actually slowed down a little, but along with the super thin hairs I am shedding much thicker normal hairs. Does this mean that finasteride is working and I should expect a lot more of thicker hairs shedding ?

Shedding is an unwanted side effect that unfortunately affects some users, but its not a sign that "everything is great and its working as it should". Only time will tell if its working, now youre just experiencing an unwanted but somewhat common side effect.
