I noticed that when you see homeless people they are rarely bald, and you would think they would be the most common sufferers of hair loss, since they have no access to medications or cosmetic surgery. I also read that people have been going balder at a young age more and more. I think your bodies natural rhythms have a lot to do with balding. Living outside would give you the perfect body functions that we are meant for. It's really healthy for your endocrine system to always be outside, because when we live inside we have an artificial eco system that we switch in out of, where homeless people have a body that reacts to the natural weather changes. On top of that, they have a natural body rhythm because they are woken up by the sun every morning, and never really get to switch their habits and sleep in as much. Also, when you have easy access to food all hours of the day our body gets used to eating constantly and we have insulin levels that our bodies are not used to, whereas someone living outside would have to find and scavenge their own food and fight through hunger more often. People living in houses are always surrounded by chemicals and lack of fresh air, and whatever mold or other toxins are in their house, where homeless people breathe fresh air all day and always have the wind blowing on them.

Maybe it's just a dumb theory, but it's something I've been thinking about. Maybe fighting evolution has caused us to go bald in some way? I thought I was the only person to notice the correalation, but I looked it up on google and found a couple other people wondering the same thing. Most people think it has to do with hair grease and shampoos being used, but I think balding, especially prematurely is a sign of something wrong in the body.

That is a really good theory.
The unhealthy food and insulin reminded me of carbs.
They increase insulin and lower SHBG which leads to high free testosterone that is converted to DHT.
All snacks and popular foods have carbs in them all the time and since they were introduced in the start of 1930-40
I think IT COULD be relevant to male pattern baldness.
My thoughts

[h=1]Clinical Significance of 5a-Reductase Activity[/h]
5a-Reductase (5AR) is the enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of (among others):

  • Testosterone → 5a-DHT
  • Androstenedione→ androsterone

  • Cortisol → allo-tetrahydrocortisol
Measuring the levels of the above hormones and metabolites in urine and blood, we can quantify overall 5AR activity. In urine, two ratios are commonly used to assess 5AR activity:

  • Androsterone : Etiocholanone
  • Allo-tetrahydrocortisol : tetrahydrocortisol
Hormonal Regulation of 5AR
Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) up-regulates 5AR activity.[SUP] 1[/SUP] Progesterone inhibits 5AR activity.[SUP]2 [/SUP]These two hormones can be easily and accurately assessed on a 24-hr urine hormone profile.
Increased 5a-Reductase Activity
Elevated 5AR activity is associated with obesity and insulin resistance in both men and women.[SUP]3 [/SUP]In women, increased 5AR activity is associated with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and hirsutism.[SUP]4 [/SUP] In men, elevated 5AR activity is associated with benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH) and premature baldness.[SUP]4 [/SUP]
5-α Reductase Inhibitors
Some inhibition of 5AR may be desirable when 5AR activity is seen to be quite elevated. Natural 5AR inhibitors can provide effective moderate inhibition without shutting down 5AR altogether, which is seen with 5AR inhibiting drugs. Natural 5AR inhibitors include:

  • Gamma-linolenic (GLA) , docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), and other fatty acids.[SUP]5,6 [/SUP]
  • Serenoa repens (Saw palmetto)[SUP]7,8,9,10[/SUP]
  • Zinc [SUP]11,12[/SUP]
Research on the effects of zinc on 5AR has shown that its inhibitory effects can be potentiated by vitamin B6. Supplements containing highly concentrated Saw Palmetto extracts may result in over-inhibition of 5AR. 5AR activity can be monitored in a 24-hour urine hormone profile.
Over-inhibition of 5AR decreases the production of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) resulting in increased levels of testosterone. The consequent aromatization of testosterone à estradiol may cause gynecomastia, a known side effect of 5AR inhibitor drugs.

In other words reduce your body fat and cholesterol and DHT will not be a problem for your hair.

That thing will work only if you have Insulin resistance.
Not everyone has insulin resistance. Stop advocating that all the time

evidence? doubt this is true

pretty sure Its not..i work at a homeless outreach agency and so I see the better part of a hundred homeless people every day. I see plenty of baldness, and even some females with hairloss. Not saying my personal experiences disproves the theory, but IMO i don't believe there is any correlation

@Diaboldh
So you are saying working out and taking that testos supplement pill will help my hair loss??
Also why are you so racist and ****???
I asked you a simple question, you made fun of my country
How the **** is that acceptable??
Also the jibber jabber you posted is just what you use all the time for your explanation.
Seriously i hope your son goes bald and asks for finasteride and gets sides and then turn to the forum and realize what an idiot his father is.

The simple answer to your question is yes if you keep high Testosterone / Estrogen ratio your body will not be forced to produce large quantity of DHT and your hair loss will stop.
Numerous studies confirm that optimal Estradiol concentration for men is 20-30 pg/mL and optimal Testosterone / Estradiol ratio is 30-40 so you need your Testosterone to be 600-1200 ng/dL.

First your histroy sucks, Its 200 years.
Second, if you really think doing that is possible then i can assure you im not ever going to get in a arugument with you again. No matter how much DHT you make, its the one in the scalp and also how many androgen receptors you have in the follicles that matters. That is determined by your genetics solely. So please don't go on saying that your body is wrong or your stress levels are high. You can never i repeat NEVER control your hormones without 24/7 being hooked to a medical machine. Dht WILL be produced in the scalp if you can't inhibit 5ar. As for saying that im a Dumb ***, im have answered many questions that are helpful and get good reviews. What have you done?? Just pointlessly putting theories that are applicable only on paper and some are just waayyy too far fetched. If you doubt me then check your rep bars. ITS GLOWING REDDDDD
