hi guys just a post for everybody to comment on the first time the took a flash cam pic from above looking down at the crown. When i took mine an looked at it my heart sunk! i was staring at it for about 5 mins in disbelief but i suppose it makes you realize at that point that something needs to be done does any of you guys think that the flash pic makes male pattern baldness seem alot worse than it actually is?.

Thats totally true, I remember the first time I did a crown pic with flash I was traumatized for like a week. Luckily it made me realize I needed to get on with a regimen.

An above head flash pic will make a Rotweiler dog look bald. It will make anybody look bald.

Everybody trusts that their "flash" camera's are telling the truth. I think they are accentuating a paranoid behavior, and that alot of people's hairloss isnt bad, or even there at times, and they drive themselves crazy shooting photons into their heads all day.

Take a flash picture of your "horshoe". I guarantee it will look bald also.

Believe it or not even after I saw the first Flash pic I was still in denial. I took a pic of my balding crown, was shocked after I saw it but then ran into bathroom to check the back of my head under some poor light and it looked ok. So I thought the pic was just an illusion. I didn´t (want to) realize that the view in the bathroom mirror were just an illusion.....

A flash pic is the best for comparing progress because it's consistent and unflattering to the max. But it's not the "truth" in the sense that that's what other people see when they look at your head. A flash right to the head will show some scalp even on a NW1.

The Norwood scale has nothing to do with one´s density.

The problem with flash pics is that you are often in a situation in which you do not whether you are balding, or if it's just the ULTRA bright flash on your head. It can make non-baldness look like baldness, and leave you confused as to what the actual situation is.

Truth is, if you are balding, REALLY balding, then you will notice it without a flash. Otherwise it doesn't really pay to assess your situation with a flash. If you THINK you are balding, go see a dermatologist, don't judge with flash photos. If you KNOW you are balding, then flash really doesn't make a difference (unless you dupe yourself into believing you see two or three extra hairs growing here or there).
