Is there anyone that can say that they have been on the "big 3" (finasteride or dutasteride, minoxidil and nizoral) in addition to tricomin/spironolactone/azelaic acid and whatever else they could come up with and still progressing upward in Norwood scale from year to year? If so, which areas progressed, and how much progression?

Im just wondering how people are managing who are using truely multi-modal therapy... Thanks.

i have been on nizoral finasteride and min for around two years
and thought it had stoped my hair loss untill about 6 months ago when it seems to have thinned out a lot that may have been caused by me try minoxidil just once a day for a few months or maybe i was just going to start losing it again, its hard to say
am back on minoxidil x2 a day now hoping it gets a little thicker

sorry to hear about the setback, kiwi... i think im just looking for a guide on where to set my hopes and expectations... with each product added i always hope that things will be different, but think i'd better prepare myself for more recession in the long run, just in case.

to be honest i think a lot of this fight is just luck, i have read every thing on every site about hair loss and gone on the big 3 and the best i can do is halt my hairloss

now my littler brother who has done no research at all, gets told to try this stuff called hair-again by a friend 4 months latter his hair looks great
my bro didnt even know that hair again is minoxidil or what minoxidil is for that matter

so i think there's a lot of luck in it

Well, lucky for him he ended up on a "real" treatment and not a snake-oil. But, I still trust the science (while waiting for better science) and believe that androgen blockade is the best tool available for now. If you like your brother dont wait too long to tell him about finasteride, as his improvement is likely to be temporary with minoxidil... Or you could wait til his situation is a little worse than yours and THEN tell him about finasteride : )

I think luck is a very big part of this... Some get great results with single therapy while others keep on thinning. I believe that some carry a stronger predisposition to thinning/recession that current treatments just may not be able to manage long term... Just a theory, from reading posts. Im not sure where I fall in the spectrum but guess mine is more aggressive, as things were getting some worse on finasteride (after years).

he's not into using drugs he even gave up the hair-Again and tryed think his hair thicker, but he did get back on the minoxidil when his hair thinned again, i have told him about propecia i think he might try it if the minoxidil stops working, but at the moment his wife wont let him use it
