Make sure you are using a good conditioner after each shower, that will help a lot.

I've heard the laser comb is excellent for improving scalp conditions. Mine is in the mail. Like you, nothing I've tried: t/gel, nizoral, emu oil, you name it, nothing has helped. Laser comb has gotten really good reviews for scalp help though, if you have enough money you might want to make the investment. Or wait... and i'll post how mine works on my scalp. I think there is a correlation between scalp health (itch, inflamation, etc.) and hairloss. I dont think it directly causes hairloss, but is an indication of things going on in your body that lead to male pattern baldness. If you notice most the people on this site have shitty scalp health.

I've heard that scalp itch is a side effect of male pattern baldness. But my scalp health is in excellent condition... no itching whatsoever, except maybe a little bit where I apply the minoxidil. Wonder if that means anything?

Keving: Why nizoral only once per week? Could you try twice or three times per week? (Incidentally, my scalp itch faded after about six months on finasteride. But it's important to control this during any treatment.)

My scalp itch was a lot during the inital stages of male pattern baldness in 2003..then i used a variety of shampoos and conditioners and it was reduced drastically but occasinal itch occurs..when i stareted finasteride 2 months ago,,,,it went off 90%off the time ..only once i had the itch during this 2 months

The shaving option

If you have a decent head shape, and don't mind the discomfort of passing a blade through your scalp, shaving your head may be a formidable remedy to your itching problems, at least until you can come up with a solution that involves a shampoo treatment or oral medicine. I usually resort to shaving about every 4 months or so, and I love it. See what suits you!

there is a product that I use and it works. It's a little easier if you have shorter hair. Its a chamomile and tee tree with a little peppermint oil and amino acids. It's light like water and has just enough conditioning properties.
Won't clog pores either. Or you could just go to a really nice salon and get a spray on scalp treatment. I use one from Aveda. All work pretty good. Just apply it after you apply everything else.

I would hate to tell you a product that I use and later find out that it may cause something bad. If you look online under African Pride you will find a sheen spray that is pretty much all natural and cheap as hell but like I said I can only vouch for myself. Please use any scalp therapy spray from any good salon and it will work just as good. Remember all natural though.
