The Impact of body hair

Hi everyone, new member here.

My hair loss is something that has been bothering me for awhile and thinking about the future is a headache. I'm 21, diffuse thinning with a bit of recession. I've tried Nisim and and I am currently using the Laser comb, but I'm not sure if these have worked/working. My hair has gotten slightly worse since I noticed some loss (about 3 years ago).

Long story short, I've tried the bald look (yes, i was brave lol) and I hated it. I've never tried Propecia, because (at this point in time), its not something I want to take (please don't mention it as an option, I know its mostly safe to use, but I have concerns and would rather stay away from at the moment).

My worry is becoming a Norwood 6/7 (is there even a 7?). My uncle is a Norwood 6/7 and I fear the same if treatments don't work.

My question is simple, and I hope to have some discussion concerning it: Can BHT (body hair transplant) be an option even if hair loss advanced to that stage? For example, if someone with Norwood 6/7 loss got a BHT (hair from beard, chest, stomach, legs, arms, back, etc) and mixed it with a couple of large FUE transplants (think somewhere around 5000/6000 grafts), would that not be enough to provide decent coverage and allow you to shave to a 1 or 2 guard with no very little to no signs of balding?

Disregarding the costs associated with this, isn't this an option? I've seen some work on a hairloss forum member who had similar work to this and it looks amazing (from Dr.******** (sp?) i believe).

I'm just looking for discussion and ideas. Hairloss sucks obviously and I'm just trying to get creative and optimistic in ways to fix this issue.

Thanks guys!

I have seen some excellent BHT work from Dr Umar.

If you had good body hair supply and characteristics then yes given enough time and money you would probably be able to get enough coverage to provide a reasonable look buzzed down to a one or two if combined with traditional FUE work.

This would be extremely expensive though for a NW5 plus.

If your thinking of a transplant and shave it down to a 1 - 2. You may want to have a look at a spaced out FUE proceudure to cover the entire scalp, then achieve the densitity with scalp pigmentation. Would be alot cheaper and is a good option, you could still get further transplants done if you chose to with body hair too.

For this type of strategy you are looking at a MASSIVE undertaking of many, many procedures and an absolute fortune. All with no guarantee of how it will look.
Much better to try and prevent the hairloss in the first place with meds. Otherwise just forget it.

It's certainly plausible, I've never actually seen anyone who was NW7 go to a decently thick NW2+ with FUE+BHT though.
I've seen some decent repair jobs (Umar's done a few) where body hair has been used.

I'm pretty sure that the transplanted hair retains its characteristics wherever it is resected to; so pubic and underarm hair will continue to grow in the "curly, kinked" fashion. You can see this in a few BHT patients - the hair on their heads is there; but it is curly and kinked. This limits you to a hairstyle of about an inch long.

Some docs actively prefer to use a few BHT grafts at the hairline in order to "soften" it a little.

If it was my choice? I'd just hop on finasteride and save myself the $50,000 US+ it'll cost you.

Well, here's one of the most succesful patients: http://www.hairlosshelp.com/forums/mess ... erthread=y

But he's sporting a buzzcut which makes somewhat easier to give an effect of a full head of hair. But still - it is possible to some extent... I'd say with average characteristics you should be able to pull a NW3 buzzcut from being a NW6. It may not mean much, but if you compare a NW6 and NW3, the ladder has hair and would most often be referred as the guy with receeding a hairline (which is hardly a problem when your like 50... you'll have DHTproof hair on your head, while majority of your generation will be severly balding.. :) ), while a NW6 guy will be marked as "the bald one".

Just my 2 cents...

That's a really great result. I would be so happy with that.

I wonder how many grafts he had. My hair transplant Doctor told me I have poor donor hair supply and could only hope for a max of 6,000.

Does BHR Clinic have a good reputation in general?

I think he had around 10.000 grafts transplanted which is huge number. Still you can go for a decent NW3 hairline instead of NW1.

Imo BHR are one of the best of the world, but do search the webs and see their work and their attitude through forums to get a better impression. :)
