Okay, first i would like to say to prevent fighting and all that, please just answer my questions if you can help me out.....i realize all the controversy on hair transplant's at a young age..This post is not to discuss that....My age being 18, I am a norwood 2 and am going to be getting a hair transplant scheduled for somewhere between june 1-10 so i can have the summer to let it all take its place...Its pretty clear that fellar and shapiro are the best docs you can go to, and luckily for me I live 5 hours and 10 minutes away from his clinic according to map quest. shapiro is my first option especilly considering he is suppose to be the best there is when dealing with temple work. My back up plan is MHR becuase of its close location and they will do work on any body. My questions are probably going to be suited for a pretty wide range of people...

1) What are my % getting in with shapiro?

2) Does anyone know about his out of state discount thing?

3) Does MHR offer the FUE technique?

4) What are some of the payment options?

5) Will I be able to keep sort of a justin timberlake look with FUE or Butcher Style? w/o noticable hair transplant work done

6) Can anybody post some of there experince with either of these hair transplant centers?

7) How do i post pics on here? i finaly got a digital camera to do so, once i learn how i will be doing it right away

Thanks for your time

Depends on your situation. It's impossible to tell since we can't see you, your family history, or your experience with meds. An ethical physician like Shapiro may turn you away, but that is certainly no excuse to go looking for any doctor that will. You will regret that decision.

It's probably a travel discount in which he will work with you on your accomodations.

3) Does MHR offer the FUE technique?

I don't think so. Please do your research on large hair transplant establishments.

4) What are some of the payment options?

Most reputable physicians don't have payment options but will refer you to plans they accept. Capital One has a cosmetic surgery loan program. I think the interest rate is pretty high, though. Not sure.

I'm assuming by "butcher style" you mean FUT or "strip." Research the trychophytic closure technique for clarification. Shapiro offers it. Dr. Cooley (my physician), H&W, Rose, and Bernstein do as well as some more but those are the ones that popped into my head.

You can read about my experience by clicking the link in my sig line. My second procedure is due to start growing in in about two months so I will be posting more photos then.

Upload your photos to photobucket.com and just use their codes to embed photos in the posts. It's very easy.

Are you on any kind of medicinal regimen? What is your family history of hair loss? Father? Brother? Cousins? Grandfathers? Uncles? When did you start thinning? How fast is it? How long did it take you to get to a NW2?

All of these and more considerations are crucial. I was a NW2 by the time I was 20 and a NW4 by the time I was 24. I'm 27 now and I've gotten things pretty much back on track but only because I have been diligent with medication and researched, researched, researched.

Please reconsider making a rash decision.

Starting hair transplant surgery at your current status would be a disaster especially when one has just started to see the effects of male pattern baldness. Even in the best of hands and skill, those tiny micro-incisions to create recipient sites can advance your hairloss. Shockloss is extremely unpredictable and could you imagine if the neighboring hair to the hair transplant shocked out or thinned out dramatically? And if you have a diffusing pattern with still lots of natural hair in the recipient area, is it worth the risk? :freaked2:

MHR would be a mistake you would regret for many years to come.

I'm pretty sure Feller and Shapiro won't work on you at such a young age. The other guys are right with their advice, BUT if you're hell bent on getting a hair transplant, you might as well go with Armani. He will do young patients, and at least he does quality work.
