The Action Of Cyproterone Acetate (cpa)

Initially I thought Cyproterone Acetate only block the androgen receptors, but after some more researches, it does more than that. Looks like Cyproterone Acetate also blocks the production of testosterones. It's nothing like 5AR inhibitors!

I'm very concerned this would mess up the hormonal balance, and lead to another round of heavily shedding. Those who took it, do you still take it and how long you you been taking it? Did you notice heavy shedding when you first took it?

I'd use it topically if I could get my hands on it. It works topically and is only minimally absorbed systemically that way. At least when properly prepared in a pharmacy.

It's not really a go-to average hair loss treatment. For the record I also think it has some mild 5-AR inhibiting properties. But yes, way more effective and dangerous than Finasteride.

It has the potential to mess up a lot of things, liver included, not just hormonal balance. Hair growth wise there could be an initial shed but the results should in any case be positive in the long run.

I'd only use it orally if I were trans or was really resistant to side effects. If you get side effects from Finasteride forget it.

I don't get any sides from finasteride. I'm taking 1mg of dutasteride daily.

I hate anything topical, unless it's shampoo. Besides CPA, is there anything that only blocks the androgen receptors?

Perhaps bicalutamide / enzalutamide.

Me too. I also never had any sides from finasteride and dutasteride (I also was taking 1 mg dutasteride), but believe me... you will get the sides, if you'll take the CPA. It's not possible to have not sides at all from the CPA or other strong antiandrogen.

Besides CPA, there are flutamide, bicalutamide, nilutamide (eg. you can make the flutamide lotion or take it orally), RU 58841, CB 03 01 for topical use.

Did you try bicalutamide? Did you have sides from taking it?

I wondered is CPA typically regarded as a stronger anti-androgen than RU?
