Hi, haven't been active here for a while, like many others, due to lack of moderation.
Posting to see if members are coming back here to give or get advice.. here is my latest issue. I have a UTS system (usually wear lace, but with pandemic, had to buy a few thinskins) I decided to try taping side and back, using sensitak tape. What a pain to remove. ..tore the thinskin. I soaked in alcohol but not much success, had to remove bit by bit using lots of alcohol.

Anyone using tape to attach UTS? If so, which tape and how do you remove tape from system. ?

I assume ghostbond type glues are the only attachment method for UTS bases...

Thanks

Had the same experience. I used a I think Vapon Lace FX Tape.
It was nearly impossible to remove from the base. Like you with lots of 99 iso. Sadly the tape doesn´t stick on my scalp half the way it sticks on the UTS

Pretty sure I've read that tape shouldn't be used with UTS. I can't answer the question you pose but from my experience I wear UTS but only ever do a full bond because it feels the most natural and secure.

I have in the past done a perimeter bond with the same white glue and it was OK but just didn't feel right. I don't think UTS/poly would ever feel right with a perimeter bond.

Thanks..Thought i had read here that some used tape, but must be a very weak tape.. search function isn't that great, reason for my post.
Reverted to ghostbound...

Use a weak base tape like Walker 1522 or Walker Sensi Tak,under the extended wear strong tape for UTS.

Once I cracked up an older UTS with perimeter bonding. There are some places on the uts which are obviously not connected with the scalp. If you have a real thin uts it won´t forgive the daily brushing etc. It stretches and stretches and then you get a hole in the uts. I will never use tapes again on poly

I used sensitak, couldn't get it off, tore the back..how does one remove tape from uts?
Thanks
Lace release, spray the edges, till it peels and spray more on a cotton wool pad. Rub and peel slowly. Tedious but comes off eventually if done slowly. Walker 1522 would be easier for a backing tape as it's even less sticky than Walker Sensi Tak.

I use full French lace now anyway. But used to wear UTS. The lack of it breathing and it being even more delicate than Swiss lace, is why I don't use it anymore.
Cleanup with UTS was tedious and time consuming. Unless you let it sit in C22 Solvent for hours till the tapes fall off.

Thanks. In 4 years wearing, never tried 1522 tape. Also a lace guy here, but had UTS as spare during pandemic shortages , and like the realistic look, ( but do need to detach after 3 or 4 days due to non breathable base...)

Switched to Ghostbond Platinum + skin protector w poly system. Get exactly a solid week's hold. I'm so impressed. I hate skin front & may go hybrid soon!

The salon I use used to do both a full glue bond and tape my UTS, but one time the same problem you describe with tearing happened so they don't tape it anymore.
