Thank you all for your replies, so I shouldn't bother with minoxidil?

Probably not. Just finasteride unless you're sure you're losing ground. If you really want to add minoxidil as a preventative then just 1x day

What's your family's hair loss like?

What's your family's hair loss like?

My dad is a Norwood 2 with some general diffuse thinning at 60 (the average person wouldn't say he has hair loss)
His brother: Like a Norwood 1 with some general diffuse thinning at like 55. Average person would consider him a fullhead.
His dad; Like a Norwood 5 at age 85. Was a Norwood 3 in his 40s.

Mom's side:
Dad - Can't find any pictures of him to tell.
Uncles - One is like a Norwood 5, all the others are thick Norwood 3s in there 60s and 70s.
Cousins - All of my cousins seem to have no hair loss (Norwood 1-1.5) however one is a very thick Norwood 3 in his early 30s.

Just stop what you are doing stop taking unnecessary medication go enjoy your life and check your hair in 5 years down the line...I'm sure you will find it hasn't changed from its current state

seriously..Dave what makes you think you have male pattern baldness?

I personally think your hair isn't going anywhere forna LOONGG time considering you're on finasteride and you were never really AGGRESSIVELY balding. Hair is still above baseline af. Keep in mind I have very aggressive genes, so does my brother and he's holding a strong nw2 after 7 years of finasteride. I think you're still good man.

Thank you for the kind words man. Yeah I always try to remember the science behind finasteride (i.e., it's success rate) but seeing all that hair fall today got me really worried.

Here is a picture of my hair wet but "styled" and a picture of my hair wet from when I was 16-17 (so maybe my scalp was always visible when wet?)

Hair is always see through when it's wet and long, it's usually even see through when wet and short, even on fullhead status. I think even with long term maintenance on finasteride your hair status will always dip up and down, I've noticed it on my bro and read many anecdotal reports of long term users and similar experiences. I'd say unless you're getting scalp itch and/or visibly thinning in areas you weren't before, the amount of hairfall you're noticing is normal for someone with long hair.
