Switching to avodart

I've been on Propecia for almost 9 months and am about to switch to Avodart or some generic form of dutasteride, because I feel Propecia has done/is doing nothing for me. Any thoughts on this? Does anyone know of a reliable form of generic dutasteride? Thanks, yo.

I did the same thing after 16 months on finasteride. The truth is, my temples receded while on finasteride and I thought I could stop this in Dutasteride. BUT this is one powerful drug, I'm telling you. I had NO sides on finasteride but I have these SERIOUS headaches on Avodart. I'm switching back, because this is unbarable.

Also I now know that I was being too naive about finasteride. So I will add Nizoral 2% and som minoxidil this time.

My advice: Don't do it!

If you want to, though, I have a two months supply that you can get cheap, that way you will now about sides without putting too much money at stake.

I dunno alopecia nate. Getting on dutasteride is a gamble. The results vary, headaches and loss of libido amongst other things does happen.. but it doesn't mean it will happen to you. I've been on dutasteride since first of November, during that time I haven't suffered any side effects. Infact my libido has improved since switching to dutasteride. Only complaint is while on finasteride and dutasteride, i can't sleep very well...i am more alert at nite, and dream crazy dreams every night. Because of the dreams I wake up tired as hell every morning. Other than that everything's fine. As I suggested in many other posts, I got on topical spironolactone to combat the possible adverse effect i might experience due to the rise of Test in my scalp. You can make your own spironolactone cheap for only about 6 or 7 bucks a month. Good luck

Wait until month 12-15 before switching to Avodart.

When and if you do, take 1.0mg for the first 15 days, and 0.5mg daily or every other day after that.

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, when I was at month 7, everyone said wait till month 9, and now everyone says wait till month 12... It seems like if it hasn't done anything at this point the next 3 months aren't going to magically set something in motion. I've never had headaches or sleep problems with finasteride, and after 3 or 4 months of sexual side effects from finasteride the sides have completely gone away. Anyway, Buffboy, I might be interested in your dutasteride. What for is it in? Generic or avodart?

Thanks, all.

Oh, and just one other detail: I've already been on Nizoral 2% for almost 5 months, and Revivogen for a month and a half.

Rule # 1:

Published data says 12 months is maximum time you must wait for Propecia to work.

Rule # 2:

Every single time you add something to your regimen, you start the clock over again. Or at the very least, you kick things off kilter and run the risk of introducing a shed or new things to the equation. You are no longer "Giving Propecia 1 year". You are now "On propecia for 9 months and Revivogen for 1 month". If this were Rogaine we'd know 100% for sure that you just introduced further shedding to the equation. We don't know that for sure with Revivogen, but now the situation has complicated itself. I would honestly at this point say give yourself another 6 months now ... with both .... before you make any changes.

PS... why are you on Nizoral 2% ? 1% works fine.

Thanks for the info, HairLossTalk.com. I'm on nizoral 2% because the other hair loss forum I frequent suggested it as part of the Big Three. Anyway, it doesn't seem to have done wonders for me; I seem to need to do more rather than less, and I do have problems with dandruff, anyway.

So I think you guys have convinced me to stay the Propecia route for at least another month or two... I'm scared, though, cause I've lost so much hair in the last nine months. Maybe things will turn around. And I know that Merck suggests you stay on their drug 12 months before you call it quits, but they want you to keep buying it. Not to mention, after this Vioxx business I wouldn't believe them if they told me my a**h** was round. Not that I would've believed them before, due to their being a pharmaceutical company... Anyway, I guess the question is, where can I get cheap, reliable Proscar online? Sick of shelling out $61 a month, I can barely afford it.
