Switching between 2% and 5% minoxidil day/night?

Before I used 5% minoxidil. Did that for a year, then got a terrible rash. Quit 5% minoxidil twice and the scalp recovered both times within 1 ½ weeks with dry scalp shampoo. Now I only use 2% minoxidil which doesn't give me as bad of a reaction (still got alot flakes and red skin though).

I'm thinking now of manning up and adding 5% minoxidil again for night use, and using 2% in the morning.

Question is - will this cause a shedding reaction switching between doses all the time?

I'm 2 months in to finasteride if that matters.

Being on finasteride has no relevance to a rash. Assuming it is in fact irritation/rash and not acne. If it were acne it could very well be related to finasteride. I had some iritation from minoxidil but it just went away on its own. Are you using the foam or liquid? Also I've heard that ketoconozole shampoos can be effective with minoxidil irritation. And you should be on it anyways.
