Suspected Hair Loss From Bleach, What Do I Do?

Hi, I’m 23, male. Before bleaching my hair I only had slight thinning in my right temple, that is all.

I had my hair professionally bleached when it was long and my scalp scabbed and my temples did too, forming a oozy substance.

Density seemed fine but was less dense in sunlight (due to light hair colour). Year later, shaved my head and got it bleached again, not as much scabbing but I noticed I could see a lot of my scalp through bright light or when I sweated. It’s been 2 months since my bleach and only minor progress has been made.

My question is who do I go to to see if I have permanent scarring and if that is the cause of slightly thinner hair rather then just hair loss due to age.

My second question is, can they find out if there is scarring (stopping hair growthe on the follicles) and determine if it’s due to the bleach and not standard hair loss?

If it is due to the bleach, is there treatment available?

Thanks.

My brother lost all his hair aged 22 due to bleaching, quiet probably the most stupid thing you can do to your hair.

Do you know for a fact if there is any way they can tell if it’s due to chemical burns? And is a derm the one to go to?

Yeah a trichologist or Derm doctor. Bleaching will just kill the hair follicle at the root if you are a guy that is already prone to male pattern baldness. You need to treat your follicles with care as they don't last forever. I would try some zinc based cream until your scalp returns to normal then use Minoxidil to try to revive your damaged follicles.
