Been reading this site for a while, and I am very impressed with the amount of info on it. Now, to my question, I am 29 years old, and I keep my hair very short. I am nw5 or so, and wanted to know how effective Rogaine foam would be and where the best place to buy it would be. And secondly I was reading about MSM and was wondering what it was.

Thanks in advance for all of your help.

don't use it myself, but from what i've read you're almost guaranteed to get at least some growth from the rogaine foam. if you're NW5, i'd say you're a prime candidate for the foam. you should really look into finasteride as well if you want to slow down/halt your loss otherwise the rogaine isn't going to be as effective.

MSM is a dietry supplement that supposedly makes your hair/nails grow faster.

flimflam,

Thanks for your response. Do you know who is a good manufacturer of MSM? In addition, do I need a prescription for finasteride and if yes I can just get it from my dermatologist? And thanks for answering my questions, this is all new to me.

Thanks for all of your help.

You're definitely not guaranteed to get regrowth. Some people don't respond at all while other people just see some decrease in hair loss. With that said.. a lot of poeple do get regrowth with the foam. I just dont want you to have an unrealistic expectation that youre 100% going to have regrowth.

And to answer your other questions.

Yes you need a prescription for finasteride. and Yes you can get it from your derm.

In response to the above, yes it's not 100% guaranteed but show me one non-responder and I'll show you 50 positive responders. I'm never particularly impressed with minoxidil success stories as it's so common.

meatsock:

I don't know about MSM, don't use it. But I can't see it would make a difference, it's just like a pack of vitamins I guess..

You don't *need* a prescription for finasteride, you can buy it directly online through the "grey market". However, you're best seeing a doctor/derm/whatever and getting a legit prescription so they can monitor your progress (heh, if they're that interested..). However if your doctors a dick and won't give a you prescription, then yeah you can get it anyway :)
