Or you can stick to minoxidil and nizoral and be like this http://www.hairlosstalk.com/discussions/viewtopic.php?t=27236

I do not in ANY WAY doubt the importance of finasteride. But i would not consider crazy a 17 year old who would like to stay with just 2 proven treatments and do not take the risk to mess with his hormones at such an important age. I my self would suggest to anyone under 18-19 to not get in propecia. Topical spironolactone can handle the DHT for some years. Propecia was not widely tested if tested at all with people under 18 (i am not completely sure about this but i recall reading it somewhere and it makes sense)

I also greatly doubt the phrase "minoxidil does not stop hairloss it is just a hair growth stimulant". First of all the way minoxidil works is not completely figured out yet. A recent study michael barry posted saw that minoxidil does a lot more than we think. And since it makes thinning hair thick, that sounds like stopping it from falling to me. I cant imagine a minoxidil-thick hair just vanishing after a while. What i want to say is that if minoxidil works for you, it can keep your hair in place at least for some years.

You can also try the version at http://www.genhair.com They have a new spironolactone 5% Cream that is said to be better than the one that Dr. Lee sells. The Gen Hair version reportedly smells better. There is also a spironolactone 5% cream being sold at http://www.wholesalehairproducts.com It has the lowest price tag. I have it and use it myself, but it has a bit of a funny smell. Which is why I plan on switching to Gen Hair's version (but it has a price tag of $88 for 3 bottles).

If you do get Gen Hair's version, maybe we can negotiate something, where I can buy a bottle off you. hah. I only need one bottle, which would last me at least 6 to 12 months easily.

:)

Your doctor sounds intelligent and I agree 100% with him.

The people who don't want you to take propecia are the same type of people who would act drunk if you gave them non-alcoholic beer but didn't tell them it was non-alcoholic.

They are the same types of people that claim they are seeing massive side effects and loss of libido if they were given a sugar pill placebo in a hairlos drug test.

Just make your own decision. If you pick an FDA treatment you didnt make a bad choice. You can always try supplements or rogain or whatever and then add in propecia its not like you dont have time.
