Hey guys, I wanted to know if styling my hair with gel is a big no-no with male pattern baldness. Normally don't have much of an issue washing my hair without gel, as little hair ends up on my hands. Gel+hairspray produces a different result. So, I was wondering if gel is a really bad thing given that my loss is mainly confined to the front

Also, I want to know what style to pull given that my situation. My hair is fine when laying flat. With it spiked, I feel that I have an issue with scalp exposure.

These pics give an idea of what my front looks like

Gelled, wet hair here

Spiked here and wet. Pretty harsh bathroom lighting

Flat, wet, normal lighting. Little issue with scalp exposure

Thanks!

Since you aren't thinning, i think you can do any style. But will it look good with high hairline? It depends on your face/head shape.

You can also try volumizer if your scalp is showing.

Hey bro thanks for the response! Am I not thinning?? I honestly thought I was given that I have some scalp exposure in the mid-frontal region and the hair seems thinner given that there is less..

Also, I'm not familiar with volumizer. Care to explain what it is and what products, please?

use wax instead of gel, its much better

I used to always use wax. Only problem is that I lose more in the shower with it as opposed to gel. You're right though, wax is better for concealing a bald spot given that it doesn't give my hair such a wet look

Gel will make your hair look more defined, but at the same time make it look transparent, and see through because of a lack in density.

Wax, and low shine products are a good approach for effortless styling.

Mouse, and blowing your hair before product can help with lift, and volume.

Use CVS pro results texture spray.. **** gels or mousse. Spray in while doing a comb part to your weaker side. You can thank me later.

dont spike it, it always looks horrible on every person I have ever seen and even makes someone not balding look balding. Linus from linustechtips (who claims he has a recreding hairline but honestly looks nothing more than slightly matured) styles his hair with gel. It looks awful and makes him look more recessed than he really is, his hair looks far better with nothing in it.

Does anyone know what is a good product to maintain that wet slicked back look?
