Starting To Fight - Need Advice!

My hair started to thin around 1 1/2 years ago or so after doing a cycle of Rebound XT. Recently do to stress I believe it has started to thin rapidly. In the past I have used aloe every night along with T-gel shampoo and conditioner (which I have now built a tolerance for) in the AM.

I've started taking .5 (1/2) of propecia a day for a week and a half now. I was getting alot of pressure in my right nipple and developed some gyno which seems to have reversed some. I don't feel pain anymore.

My questions are;

Is 1/2 of propecia a day enough?
What is a good combination shampoo to use for DHT block or hair regrowth? Reviveogin?

I would like to try and hold of on the Monoxidil.

Any and all advice very much appreciated!

Maybe someone else can give their opinion on this, but I don't think that there is anti-androgen shampoo that stays on the scalp long enough to do anything other than Nizoral. Absorption through the scalp takes time and leaving something like Revivogen shampoo in your hair for five minutes isn't really going to do much for you. The same goes for a product like Nioxin. They both use "organic" products and leave your hair feeling healthy, but it will only be healthy on the surface. The Revivogen topical, on the other hand, really isn't a bad product. It has a lot of good ingredients, but one could argue that they aren't nearly at a high enough concentration to be effective.

Nizoral is about your only option along with internals like propecia, dutasteride, or herbal remedies, if you so desire. I'm unfamiliar with T-gel, so I don't know if that has Ketoconazole...the active ingredient in Nizoral.

Topical minoxidil or spironolactone could be considered, as well. Look around here. People are making a lot of interesting topicals with green tea extract and apple polyphenols. You might see something you want to try and all you have to do is message someone for the recipe. Collegechemistrystudent posts here and is an excellent chemistry and topical resource. He's a very smart guy and will help you when he has the time.

Also, .5 mg of propecia probably isn't enough. I think the recommended dose is aroudn 1 mg. Your body might work differently, but you probably won't due a whole lot of damage with .5 mg propecia.

Good luck and do a lot of research. Male pattern baldness is a complicated little disease process and it will benefit you to learn all you can as fast as you can. Ask questions when you need to. There are no stupid questions, because their aren't really any intelligent answers.

i would go with 1mg, .5 may be "enough" but your losing hair and time is not on your side...

like already said, nizoral 1 or 2%

Thanks for the replies!

I actually started using nizerol 1% every 3 days or so. Would revivegin or tricomin be good to use in between nizoral days?

I would like to hold off on monixidil if I can.

My scalp is always itchy!

First off, that momentary flash of breast sensitivity is not uncommon when you first start Propecia. It should go away completely, for most people.

You might just be having a shed, I normally do this time of year and despite there being no solid studies backing this, I believe that this time of year (Aug - Oct) sheds are more commonplace among men.

I like your .5 Propecia regimen. Good idea, just remember that it takes a LONG time for internals to start to make a difference. It will probably take 2-3 months for it to start affecting actual follicles, and then another 2-3 months after that for any propecia-enhanced follicles to grow a hair that is long enough to be seen from outside the surface of the scalp. So, you're basically looking at 5-6 months before seeing ANY potential positive effects. Propecia takes time, and you need to be patient, be religious in your dosing, and not give up on it or lose hope until you have let it do its thing.

In the meantime, if you do feel the interest in adding in another topical, you could always buy a relatively inexpensive copper peptide spray (Folligen or Tricomin) which can't hurt. Nizoral shampoo 2-3/x week is a must, in my opinion, if you aren't already cycling that in.

Going through a shed? I hope so, for my sake.

I ordered Tricomin shampoo, conditioner, and spray...it arrived quickly and I have already used it twice. It took away the itch!

Everyone swears by nizoral but I think whenever I use it my scalp gets very itchy and irritated. When I built a tolerance for T-Gel I started using it again until I got this tricomin and the horrible itch is gone. Maybe I should try using it once a week? I also ordered tree oil shampoo and conditioner. Is this an ok replacement for nizoral?

I will keep on with the .5 mg of propecia and hope that's enough. I've had no other sides yet, except maybe for watery seaman.

If my hair doesn't start to look better I will have no choice but to jump on monox. I'm trying to hold off, I hope I'm going through a shed!

Thanks for the advice!

Is this really true? Has anyone else experienced this?

Bump. I'm experiencing some nipple pain 9 days in, is this normal?

yes, only stop finasteride if the pain is untolerable or stays for something like 2 months or you're developing man tits.
