hi i have early stage thinning at my temples which has been confirmed under microscope. I'm about to start finasteride and i don't actually want to regain any hair at this stage, as in i wouldn't care if i stayed this way forever (i wish), but would it maybe be better in the long run to start using minixodil right away too? i'm just worried that using both at once will cause massive shedding, and that maybe i should just see how i go with finasteride on it's own to start with.

Start asap, the later you start the bigger of a problem it will be and the more expensive it will be should you go for a hair transplant one day.

Start with 5% minoxidil regaine/rogaine foam and the finas. If you go to your GP he may be able to give you a prescription for proscar for you to cut into 4ths/5ths with a pill cutter which is far cheaper than the single propecia pills.

That's what I did back when I was 17. It did nothing for me, my hair loss progressed, then at 18 I started Propecia and my hair loss halted in about 3 weeks of use of Propecia. Then after I was sure my hair loss stabilized I started Rogaine again, and this time it helped.

That was my experience. Other people can experience good results with Rogaine alone though. Some, like me, it will do nothing unless you suppress your DHT first, with a DHT inhibitor like finasteride or dutasteride..
