Started talking Avodart 0.5mg twice weekly

Finally got a dermatologist to prescribe me Avodart. I wasn't impressed by the dermatologist, he had to read some notebook to get Avodart information. He said do 3 weeks a week and twice a week after 6 months.

Based on my research I'm taking 0.5mg twice a week (mon and fri).

My questions:
1) What is 0.5 mg of Avodart equivalent to Propecia wise?
2) Is twice a week 0.5mg potent enough? Or is it too low?
3) If anyone can share dosage info or experiences will be appreciated.

Propecia blocks around 70% DHT while Avodart blocks 90% + when both are taken daily.

I believe some discussion found that 2x a week was the bare minimum it should be taken, 3x a week now seems to be the accepted DHT blocking amount.

I'm just starting on one every other day today, have you not tried Propecia first?

I was on Propecia for 3 years, then I went on long vacation and stopped taking it. My hair is somewhat thin, and I guess Propecia helped. But after doing research it seems Avodart is more potent than Propecia.

I'm somewhat confused about your regiment. Why are you taking Propecia and Avodart?

Avodart does exactly what Propecia does and more. Avodart blocks the same DHT Propecia does and it alo blocks a secondary DHT.

After taking avodart for over 5 years I no longer have a sex drive 8 months since discontinuation.

I will go 0.5mg per day maximum, i'm a couple of days in to Avodart and nothing major to report, erections may have been a bit softer than usual, but that was the case when I started finasteride. so i'll give it a few months and see what happens!

I'm down to once a week on Avodart.

I'm sure it's not as effective as taking it daily or 2-3 times a week, but I'm concerned about side effects (sex drive), and I'm don't feel like taking pills everyday.

Anyone else taking it once a day?

Suggestion. Get it from 4rx.com. It comes in a tablet form, so you can half or quarter it. 0.1mg of dutasteride is more effective than 5mg of finasteride, so why not do perhaps .125mg (quarter of .5mg) daily instead? I feel like that might have a lesser chance of sides.
