hey. I hope that's not a too-lengthy post.
I'm 24 and according to the graphs I'm starting the first level of male pattern baldness. my father (58) has very thin hair at the crown area, almost no temples but overall his hair isn't thick. everyone tells me that 'its in my head' but I really feel the shedding start. the hairs at the crown were like half the length of the other areas and hairline started receding.
I started taking Propecia (1mg) like 12 days ago. first thing i noticed after the first pill was 1-2 minutes of drowsiness in the penis. then a noticeable pain in the arm muscle. I kept taking it for few more days with testicles pain few times a day and sometimes muscular pain. lowered libido all the time and when i had one i couldn't get it fully up.
so I skipped it for 1 day and then started again.
my hair always grows very fast so now, after 10 pills, the crown is fuller and when i pull the hair almost none is left on my hands.
today, I washed my hair with Head And Shoulders since i have dandruffs. I noticed an unbelievable amount of hairs on my hands (like 30), that never happened before.
also, i noticed that every time i pull hairs from the front hairline (that's getting thinner) and temples, get 7-9 out. and that area is red and itching.
another thing that makes me feel really concerned is that in the last 4 days I feel pain in my chest. and i've read about the option of male breast cancer using finasteride.
I really don't know what to do since all the doctors on forums say the same things, every user say different things, so I've set an appointment with my dr.
btw the libido and hard-on are coming back but i still have testicles pain.
should i stop taking it and try an alternative?
is it possible that propecia increases the shedding when you start taking it?
maybe finasteride makes the skin more oily and i should use Nizorel?
is it true that finasteride decreases the DHT levels only on the scalp and prostate, or it could also be affecting the brain and decrease the testosterone levels in the whole body?

I'll be glad to hear what you guys think.
cheers :)

The side effects went away in a majority of test subjects that reported them. Personally, I dipped down to half a pill a day (.5mg) an things were smooth sailing for 3+ years. Recently went up to 1.25mg a day and have noticed that the testicular pain has come back, but it's off and on. I maybe get a bit of pain 2 or time 3 times a day, and it only lasts for a few seconds.

No matter how fast your hair grows you are not going to see regrowth results in only ten days. Also, finasteride isn't going to cause arm pains.

Testicle pains are more likely, and most side effects go away after a week or two.
