I've been receiving laser treatment for the past year for male pattern baldness, I'm 23 and to be honest I haven't had great or really that noticeable results if any. I've been looking around at other solutions but apart from propecia (which seems to have pretty horrific side effects), nothing seems to give guaranteed results.
Whilst looking on the web I noticed that the exact same lasercomb which my trichologist has been using on me was on sale via Amazon for £330. Whereas he had been charging me £143 per month. Also, Hairmax themselves recommend that treatment be given 3 times a week whereas I was only getting 1 20 minute treatment per week.
I showed my trichologist the Amazon page and asked him about it. He said that despite the casing and design being very similiar, he guaranteed me that the two lasercombs were not the same. I asked why? He said that about 2 years ago, a fellow trichologist complained to Hairmax that the trichologists had spent time and money on courses and qualifications in order for them to be able to use the treatment on their customers...and now Hairmax are releasing the lasercombs for the home market meaning it will drive away business...however, it also raises the question...why did they waste all their time and money on these courses if it was as easy as reading a manual. He was then told that the lasercombs sold for the home market are not as strong as the lasercombs used in salons. He said the lasers are not calibrated the same and are simply not as powerful. That is why proper training is required for the salon lasercombs, as it's more dangerous. He said his lasercomb cost over £1,000 when he purchased it and he has to get the laser's re-calibrated every 6 months.
So it wasn't the response I was imagining...if that's the case, how **** are the home release lasercombs, as i'm not getting wonder results with the salon ones.
He's going on another course in November, for a new laser treatment, a type of helmet which he's going to get installed into the salon. I think i'll stick around to see what that's like.
I'm not saying what he's said is right, I don't know if it is or not, but he's a nice guy so i'm sure he's not bull****ting me, although that's not to say he could have been misinformed. Has anybody else heard this before as I had assumed the lasercombs were the same (it looks EXACTLY like the premium blue one)
