Hi,

I'm new member here, french speaking. I'm a man of 50y old. My doctor has prescribed me 100mg oral spironolactone each day against hypertension. I take it since a few months and all is ok (no side effects).

Could you tell me if spironolactone has effect on regrowth man's hair? How is that carried out?

Thank you for your answer(s)

I have heard of topical spironolactone...where you put the liquid on your head. Oral spironolactone probably works too... but i cannot give you a definate anwser.

I've seen people on here discussing oral spironolactone before. To sum up the consensus reached in those threads, it should work (perhaps better) than topical spironolactone, BUT people are not advised to take it orally for male pattern baldness because of the negative side effects. (Same with oral minoxidil.) So if you're on it already for something else, you'll probably get an antiandrogen effect in the scalp as a nice bonus on the side. But keep a close eye out for other unwanted side effects!

Hi,

I dont take spironolactone for hair regrowth, but well against blood pressure. I take it since several months and... no bad side effects. I just ask if oral spironolactone has some effect on hair (re)growth... In Belgium, an Euro-generic spironolactone of 50 pills at 100mg costs only 5 Euro because the Social Security refunds an important part of it. What about in others countries?
