After a few years on finesteride and minoxidil my growth progress stopped. I have been on topical spironolactone for about 6 months. I'm not sure if I have any new growth but my hair strands are thicker.

Thanks yello, are you using Dr. Lee's? 2% or 5%, and how often are you applying?

Thanks

Hey Lizzad,

I'm mixing my own in alchohol. I put 8 100mg spironolactone pills in a used 60ml minoxidil bottle. I put the minoxidil on at night and after about 5 minutes I put on the spironolactone. By morning it kind of stinks but the way my strands have thickened, I think it's worth it.

I was thinking of doing the same thing bud, but i read something posted by Dr. Leewhich said that when the two chemicals (spironolactone & minoxidil) are mixed together, there is a chemical reaction which reduces the potency of both meds.

I think there are issues as to wether putting spironolactone tabs in minoxidil works...

Yup, I read that spironolactone will lose potency when stored with minoxidil. I also read that the chemical reaction needs time to take place and if you put them both on separately it will be absorbed before the reaction can have any real effect. I will try and see if I can locate where I read that.

I grew a shitload of vellus hair on my temples and hairline on minoxidil. The stuff is more areally dense than any hair on the rest of my head, LOL it's so cruel.

After using spironolactone a couple months it looks like more of the hairs are now growing longer or thickening. But I put so much sh*t on my head, who knows.

I am sticking with it, I think it is helping but nothing definitive.
