spironolactone under the scalp

I was wondering if, when I rub spironolactone into my crown, it spreads out 'under the scalp' and therefore covers a wider area? Or does it just have an effect on the hair follicules in situ where I applied the cream? Might be a daft question but I would like to know the answer. If anyone can help it would be appreciated.

I read somewhere about 1 inch in each direction, but i couldn't cite any studies.
