I believe that isoflavones are fat soluble.
The brand of soy milk I buy has 35 mg of isoflavones per serving. BUT, if you buy the lowfat version, it only has 5 mg of isoflavones per serving.
They explain this discrepancy in their literature, saying that the isoflavones are best carried in a fat vehicle. So... if you are taking isoflavone supplements, perhaps you should take them with a tablespoon of olive oil.
I do this anyways, personally, in the mornings. B vitamins are also best carried in fat, and as I usually have cereal with nonfat milk for breakfast, I take my B vitamins right after with a tablespoon of olive oil to get some fat into my stomach to aid in vitamin absorbtion.
