Some recommendations and a question

Hi all

Haven't been on these forums in years, just re-registered.

First wanted to contribute my reg: I've been on Rogaine 5% 2x daily (not the generic kind, which always seems too watery), Tricomin (mixed with a little Fologin for some extra kick) 1x daily, proscar/propecia daily and nizoral 2x weekly.

Been taking this for four years. Religiously. (Thought ya'll might appreciate this since I remember one frustration i had with the forums is people were always adding and deleting stuff from their routine so you never knew what was helping and what was hurting).

Overall I'm very satisfied that this has mostly arrested my loss and I would recommend it to anybody. i have no visible loss in the crown area anymore, though still have a thinning look up front -- though not much better or worse than a few years ago. Plus, no side effects (at least that i'm aware of!)

Now the question: Has there been anything found in the past few years that is a "must add" (or "must change"?) to this regimine? Been looking around ... switching to dutasteride seems a bit scary, but i'd be open to other things if there's a firm consensus that they help.

Thanks,

Jason

ps. some things are funny how they haven't changed. Dr. Lee still selling his compounds, the hairmax laser comb still "on the verge" of FDA approval, etc.

Don't fix what isn't broke. If you're satisfied with results, continue exact regimen without modification until results fade.

That's the best advice anyone could possibly give you.

... mostly satisifed. wouldn't be posting on here if i was completely. still thin in the front. now that i'm growing my hair out, appears even thinner (i know, longer hair looks thinner than shorter). would love to add some kind of booster to the mix, to help offset that inevitable fading...but if there's nothing that meets that description...

As far as the level of testing and scientific data goes, Tricomin Therapy Spray would be the next most clinically backed choice after Rogaine, as far as growth stimulants go. It qualifies as an unproven treatment however, technically, and some people have reported shedding on it (usually a good sign). But ... its your decision and you know the risks. The reason I say dont fix something that isnt broken is because of just that ... you may initiate another shed, things may start to suck for awhile.. you might think you screwed up and made things worse, etc etc etc.... with hair loss treatments I always say that the best thing to do is leave things alone if you're ok with the results.

must've missed it from my original post. i'm on the tricomin. love the tricomin (mix a little bit of folligen in there to give it extra kick, just something i did the first time and have since kept doing because, as you said, don't mess with a good thing). once tried to cut it out of my reg, big mistake.

from looking things over, was thinking of either switching from proscar to dutes (i know, i said i didn't want to, but i've been reading more posts), or adding revivogen, or perhaps MSM...?

Well ... just be aware of the differences between types of treatments and what they do:

Propecia, dutasteride, Revivogen = primarily for maintenance. Not regrowth. theoretically you might see some increased density after a year or two on Propecia, but its mainly for stopping further loss.

MSN = just a hair health supplement. makes existing hair grow healthier and possibly faster. does not stimulate new hair growth or increase your density.

I would definitely not go from nothing straight to dutasteride ... side effects to benefit ratio has not been clearly established in my opinion.

Im trying to think of another possible growth stimulant. The general rule is if you want to increase hair count, you must use a growth stimulant to do so...

Then again Propecia + Rogaine together do seem to have sweet results in almost all guys ...

Thats my take on this.
