Sodium lauryl sulfate as excipient /inactive ingredient in finasteride - safe ?

I've been taking finasteride for a while, and only now I've noticed that in the inactive ingredients list, there is sodium lauryl sulfate.
I became worried because I had read SLS is a foaming agent in a lot of shampoos and cleaners in general (which already sounds bad, ingesting a detergent).
In medicines and pills, it acts as a surfactant and aids in penetration for the active ingredient.
However, I do not think SLS is safe. I've seen studies on toxicity and chronic exposure (by contact and ingestion) and they suggest that SLS is not filtered or metabolised, and it builds up on our bodies ...
I'm just scared that taking this pill everyday for a long time might make me prone to sls poisoning over time ... any help?

Hi Hair, Its wise that you are doing your own research. When it comes to our health I don't think we can ask too many questions. On the other hand, fear can paralyze our decision making abilities in the best intentional circumstances. I know you are only being cautious and that's perfectly alright. As we already know finasteride. has been around controversably for nearly 2 decades as a script for male pattern baldness and its safety and efficacy reviews are still mixed. I will look into SLf's safety record for you and try to follow up a little later on in the week. Keep up the good fight and best wishes!

I imagine if there was a serious negative side effect then we would know about it by now. You being worried is probably the worst thing for your health.
