I'm new here, but I've been reading up and down on this board since my hair started thinning in the front and crown about a month ago. Both my paternal and paternal grandfathers are bald so I got kind of screwed with genes. I've been on a strict regimen with propecia and rogaine for about a week now, as recommended/prescribed by my doctor. Also picked up a bottle of nizoral shampoo which I use every 3 days or so.
This board is awesome and gives me a lot of hope with success stories. But it seems there's a consensus that eventually any progress or treatments to stabilize hairloss and/or improve your hair will eventually stop some years down the road. Is this really something that every guy suffering from hairloss has to come to terms with? Even if I take propecia and rogaine every day without fail that one day, whether it's 2 years from now or 10 years, all this progress and maintenance will come to a screeching halt and I'll have to learn to accept my hair loss and resort to hairpieces/surgery? Honestly, I'm not trying to be a downer but rather trying to clarify what other posters have said. I'm only 20 years old and my hair loss is already starting so it's all pretty discouraging.
