Well, im currently 17, 18 in a few months and am having some thinning on the corners of my forehead. I have a natural part on the left side and was wondering why it looks like the left side is thinning faster or more than the right side? is this usual?

Anyways, I don't really smoke cigarettes as much as I used to but was wondering how bad or if at all will it increase the chances of the thinning process? Do I really have anything to worry about? I usually just smoke about a pack a week and was wondering if this could lead to more thinning or am I completely safe? It's just kinda bugging me right now cause I so rather quit than keep smoking and worry about it.

its normal to have one side worse than the other.

smoking makes no difference.

it seems like the whole natural part area is a bit thin while the other side is done thinning and looks quite thick. so im just mainly worried about the left side loosing more hair cause that would probably look a little awkward with one side balder than the other lol. hope not! i have quite long hair so that could be another reason it looks like that but im actually thinking about doing a number 8 all around this summer, maybe it'll give me a better look. have never buzzed my head but a number 8 shouldn't be too short i think its like an inch? anybody have a pic of a number 8 buzz so i can get an idea of what i should look like

re:

Landon and Pitt are not bald because they do not have male pattern baldness. Obviously smoking cannot cause male pattern baldness but no one knows if it can increase (or decrease for that matter) the rate of hairloss. Citing two smokers who are not bald proves absolutely NOTHING! It is a waste of time.
To the original poster, it is normal to look for some outside reason why you are balding. Unfortunately if you have seen a change in your hairline over the last few months then you most likely have male pattern baldness. There are some options these days but they carry some degree of risk and cost. However, the good news is that men these days can keep there hair really short and thus hide their male pattern baldness and no one notices a thing (including the opposite sex). Don't let it get you down because there is a lot more to a man then some stupid hair. Besides you had no control over this situation so anyone who makes you feel bad about it is just a prick who is expressing his own self hatred.

For me personally, I've found that smoking without a doubt speeds up shedding. I've started and stopped many times with the same results.
