Smartest way to make the switch to Dutasteride

Hello everyone.

I'm certain the best thing to treat hairloss is to start finasteride early enough. I failed to do that. Now I'm DESPERATE for regrowth and willing to take risks with dutasteride.

Many users report a massive shed and this is scaring me, on top of the possible longer-lasting side effects.

But I dont want to wonder "what if" for ever.

According to your experience or research, should I just add a low dose of dutasteride to my finasteride intake(once or thrice a week), or use both daily, or completly drop finasteride?

Thank your for the advice fellow male pattern baldness fighters.

Men who suffer gyno because of dutasteride are a tiny tiny minority. If I do I'll jump on the preventive treatments and drop the dutasteride but come on, you know how unlikely this is. I'm on finasteride and never had anything like this ever happen, but the fear-mongering could also have gotten to me.

Can you describe your finasteride experience a little bit?

I think it would be reasonable to take dutasteride once every 5th day or once every 3rd day to start...You basically just want to be consistent with your doses so your hormones don't fluctuate.

I took finasteride 1Mg a day for year. Stopped male pattern baldness, no regrowth. Cut down to every other day for two years since I heard it was pretty much the same. Losing my mind over my norwood 3 with frontal thinning so I went back to every day a couple weeks ago.

I need regrowth. The hair transplant should be coming next year but my financial future is not secured yet. A hair transplant is a much bigger plunge than dutasteride. I wont get one without being certain I have the necessary money. Thinking about my norwood 24/7. I need to improve my mental sanity and the only way is to promote possible regrowth so I have something to look forward to.

why are you expecting to get regrowth with either finasteride or dutasteride? They're preventatives.

Some people report a little regrowth, but not many AFAIK, and anecdotal reports aren't too reliable anyway. Consider maintaining what you have a success.

only thing that may regrow hair is minoxidil

From my researchs, adding it EOD is the best dose. I'm desperate but I'm not stupid I know this is a much stronger drug than finasteride for results that are likely to be almost similar so I'm making my research and carefully weighin the pros and the cons. I'm desperate for regrowth but it seems real regrowth is rare. This is why I'm posting here, I want to interract with guys with real experience/knowledge.

Quantum Cat, I started with minoxidil at the front a year before finasteride. Extended to whole scalp a week ago. The front is where I want to see regrowth. The forelock has thinned in the middle. I'm NW3 but heading towards 3A;

I took dutasteride every other day for about a year. I just started taking it every day. Yes I did get bigger sheds than finasteride alone.

And finasteride was your first line of attack? Did you see some regrowth with the switch? If it's getting me the same results as finasteride then no point to switch.

I see frontal regrowth but lots of scary diffuse shedding. I recovered from the first nasty dutasteride shed I am hoping for the same on this one.
