I have hairloss which isn't noticable after I have straightened and styled my hair. My hairline has recedeed about about 1 cm since I was 17 at the hairline. This has meant I can't style my hair the same as before and I have to cut it myself to stop so that I don't have that circular (and gappy) fringe that annoys me so much. I have mid length indie/alternative hair. I have recently purchased generic finasteride off the internet which I break into four pieces. My hairline would be noticable if my hair was of standard thickness. My remaining hair is really thick, which is why I am embarassed to got to the hairdresser, it looks like I'm covering it up, I also look terrible with my hair back, because of my hairs thickness it's almost wig like, which provokes the same response when my hair is scraped back. If I had short hair (which I don't suit as much) it doesn't look as far back for some reason even when exposed.

Can I get some of my hairline back with the medications, is there anything else I need to take. How important is Nizoral. Is it normal to recede this slowly?

nizoral is not nearly as important as propecia, but it seems to regrow some hair in addition to what propecia would. it is not strong, just extra, and the main benifit is it helps many people tolerate minoxidil because it releaves inflamation. you just need the 1%. use a little and make it last.

hair can recede at any speed it wants to. It hairs can die one row at a time so that the hair is always thick and the hairline just moves back, or they can all get moderate attack at once and have diffuse loss. It can take years to thin or recede, averageing 8 years to lose all hair on top, or you can lose most of the hair on your head in 6 months or less. you can even loose 1cm and then not loose any more until you are 50. you don't know what will happen. all you know is it is easier to maintain than it is to regrow, so you better start now.

hey jimothy, i have the indie style hair too, but with my hairloss it has gotten a lot harder to keep up with. do you have any significant tips? do you straighten every day?

Thinneritgoes, yes I do straighten almost every day. If I want my hair to look thick for a night out I wash it with umberto giannini yellow shampoo(don't condition it if poss). Then I blow dry it, straighten it. Put some moouse for extra body, rub all over my head with a towel. Use my hands to style it, then spray with shockwaves ultra hold (orange coloured one). After that it basically can't move at all, but looks really thick. It keeps your hair dryer for days so it doesn't look so gappy. Until you need to wash it again, every morning just put some more moouse and use the towel, style and spray.

Sometimes I can't be bothered so I wash my hair, scrunch it and spray it curly, which usually covers it up.

Another tip get someone to cut your hair so that no matter your hairline your fringe all reaches the same length, and keep the sides thinned out.

Incidentally, how long have you been on propecia, has it worked for you?
