We know that people taking dutasteride stop balding on its tracks and regrow quite some hair esp if they also take minoxidil.

So why dont scientists make a study with people balding take full scalp biopsies give them dutasteride with minoxidil and take scalp biopsies again after 6 months and give a complete list of all the gene expression and serum changes ???

Then come up with a cosmetic topical that tries to emulate this.

Seriously 30 f*****g years we've had dutasteride and minoxidil why is it that hard for 1 lab to do this ?

For the same reasons that:

A) There isn't even a complete map of the genetic difference between a non-balding vs balding hair follicle of the same person
B) Every in vitro study shows that DHT always damages hair follicles yet it stimulates the diameter of body hair
C) They don't compare body hair to balding hair and f*****g Replicel taking the DP from body hair to not just give us maintenance but give us hair that grows THICKER from DHT

There is a lot that could be done for sure, at least on the front of gaining more knowledge about what is actually happening in Androgenetic Alopecia, but isn't being done due to comparatively few people even researching it, limited funding, Propecia already being on the market so the bar is set very high for future research etc.

Most likely lack of funding.

There is a gene expression study which showed that collagen matrix protein genes are upregulated in bald scalp than non bald scalp of same person. Collagen upregulation has been implecatd in fibrosis ,so we could draw a conclusion that skin fibrosis could be a reason people go bald. Some people have more stretch on scalp and less buffering so they go bald early.

With the data we are able to get today that should be quite simple to figure out (data mining etc).
I think lack of funding and skilled workers that are obsessed with curing cancer and age related diseases with drugs (lol idiots AGING is the cause of all of these diseases should cure aging instead of pointless research).

B) Every in vitro study shows that DHT always damages hair follicles yet it stimulates the diameter of body hair

Yet we know this to be a fact but cant make a deep analysis of what impact DHT has on scalp hair??

A complete list of gene expression changes is beyond ridiculous and will vary from person to person so funding would be a serious issue. They wouldn't be able to develop one topical that works for everyone. It'd be best to target a couple of the upstream process to prevent the rest of the cascade from happening, which is what things like topical AAs and WAY are doing.

IMO Fibrosis is implcated in common baldness without any dude, but it appears in the final stage of the malaltie, it is not the triggering cause.

So what is triggering cause? What dht shrinks hair follicles on scalp but promote follicles on other parts of body?
