huh... it's not so simple.
because just 0.5 mg of finasteryde (or even less?!)
gives same effect as 1.0mg (for remove dht from head)
that's why i'm asked
and created that pool (...)

I cut mine into quarters, like the majority of the folks here. I don't have any side effects at all taking 1.25mg per day of Proscar.

Plus, as this popular graph shows, it does remove more DHT then taking a smaller dose.

The real story is: Generic Proscar is cheap, easy for me to cut into quarters, and I don't have any sides from it, so cutting it any smaller seems uneeded. I may even be getting better results by taking 1.25mg per day for all I know, but I obviously can't prove it. That dose works for me though, and I'm getting regrowth.

Quarters too. I tried cutting it into fifths but I made a pigs ear of it.

No sides other than my c*m was a bit watery for a couple of days. Didn't bother me, makes it easier to aim.

Well that's the single dose graph...
There seems to be an accummulative effect of lower doses, so the effect of doses as low as 0.2 is (almost) as effective in lowering serum levels of DHT. It just takes more than that single dose.

EDIT: I don't mean to hijack the thread/poll. This has probably been discussed enough.

Early dose ranging studies showed that much smaller dosages, such as 0.5 mg and even less, inhibited DHT on average almost as well as much higher dosages, such as 5 mg. One 6-month study comparing a placebo group, which lost hair, to users taking differing dosages of finasteride found that 0.2 mg of finasteride increased hair counts about 81% as much as 1 mg when compared to the placebo. Similarly, 1 mg increased hair counts 82% as much as a full 5 mg compared to placebo. The tiny 0.2 mg dosage did about 66% as well at regrowth and retention as 5 mg. Accordingly, the 1 mg dosage was probably a compromise designed to be high enough to pick up those who may not respond as well to the lower dosages, but low enough to minimize side effects. Many of those who take less than 1 mg opt for either 0.5 mg or 0.625 mg (1/8th of a Proscar tablet). Some people also skip days periodically based on the fact that finasteride suppresses DHT for up to several days and also on the old pharmacological rationale that it may help preclude any possible tendencies toward tolerance, which sometimes happens with continuous long-term use of medications.
that's i've created that topic... if more split Proscar into even 7 pieces (an example) - i will do the same. that's all :freaked2:

That may very well be accurate, which is kind of why I mentioned this at the bottom of my post:

I can understand why folks want to take a lesser dose. For me, since I have no problem being on 1.25mg per day, I might as well shoot for the better benefits if any. Plus I don't have to worry about trying to cut a tiny pill into splinters. :D

Honestly, if I wasn't seeing regrowth I would think these pills were made of sugar, as they don't seem to do anything else for me but stop hair loss and grow hair (which I wish would grow in faster). I'm not saying I'm responding like crazy, but I have more hair on my head than I did when I started 3 months ago, so that's saying something.
