Hello, super new to forums and know jack **** about hair loss apart from having some myself.
I started noticing hair loss at around the age of 21-22 mostly above the ears. I would take a shower and my hands would get coated with hair when I shampood but it never really looked like my hair was thinning and it always grew back. At 22 I was put on testosterone replacement therapy after being diagnosed with secondary-hypogonadism. I am now 24 and the hair loss is getting worse. My hairline is visually thinning at the widows peak area and above the ears. I talked to my GP about the hair-loss and he brought up finesteride but said that It would not be a good idea for him to prescribe since I am currently taking an androgen. Also, my blood tests show my DHT is not very high so I am not so sure finesteride will do a whole lot for me but seeing as I don't know much about androgens in relation to hair and scalp I thought I might ask.
Age 22:
Total testosterone : 206 (249-836)
DHEA-S04 : 47 (232-531)
age 24 on TRT:
Total testosterone : 686 (249-836)
DHEA-S04 : 90 (232-531)
DHT: 31 (16-79)
One side effect I am worried about is the labido and boner changes when taking finasteride or propecia. Since battling low T for awhile I still have some lingering sexual incompetence issues thats slowly going away. But, I gota do something about my hair now before it gets worse.
Bonus question : I got some minoxidil from costco in liquid form but it says on the box not to use it for the hairline. Should I use it anyway?
