Should I stop using Minoxidil?

I am 21 years old and started using minoxidil, finasteride and nizoral all at the same time about 6 months ago. I started with all three at once because of how aggressive the hair loss was, and due to the fact that all 3 of my brothers and my father suffer from severe male pattern baldness - basically I panicked.

After about 3 months of treatment and some moderate shedding, my hair loss pretty much stopped. Unfortunately I did not use my minoxidil for about a week at the 3 month point (stupid, I know), and noticed the hair loss increased back up to the rate it had been pre treatment. I have been back on minoxidil ever since and the shedding has been far more severe this time.

I regret starting on all three treatments at once and want to stop the minoxidil. I wish I had done my homework a bit more thoroughly the first time around, because judging by lots of threads on here my hair situation is not really bad enough to warrant minoxidil, and I am at the point where I would be better using finasteride alone. I feel like all the minoxidil has done is cause me to shed, and although it is not noticeable yet to others, I know my hair is thinner now than before I started.

I have been applying the minoxidil to my entire scalp twice daily, and am concerned that if I stop the treatment now I will go through a large shed and be in a worse situation than I am in now.

What do you guys think I should do? Ride out this shed, hope that the hair loss stabilizes again and stick to the big three? Or drop the minoxidil, continue with finasteride and maybe consider adding it back to my regimen once my male pattern baldness has advanced further (whenever that may be)?

Agreed stick to it.... you perhaps will not notice this or ever will but there are millions of guys out there that wish they started the big 3 while they still had some hair.

Whatever hair you got now the big 3 can attempt to keep as best it can, it rarely regrows new hair its really best for maintenance of existing hairs, so once its gone its gone and when your 30 or 40 you can still look in a mirror and look back at the other person !
