I have a question, is it better to spray minoxidil on my scalp and spread it on the bald area with my finger tips without any pressure?

or

To spray it on the bald area and rub it on the bald area for 30 sec to 1 min to help the penetration? :/

please help.

Don't use the spray, you may use too much and waste it. Use the applicator on the scalp and if you rub it in with any thing don't use your finger. Your finger may absorb some of the minoxidil. I use to do that and my fingers would get numb and tingly from the minoxidil. I use a form of a comb. On one side it looks like a comb and the other side looks kinda like a pick. the pick side looks like it has 4 or 5 bristles. I use that side to gently work it in my scalp. Try that. Some where on the internet you can buy a gadget that you put on your finger and use it to massage the mino into your scalp. If I find it I'll let you know where to get it.

Yes, you can rub it in with your finger.

I rub it in with my fingers, on Doctor Lee's 'regrowth' site he says you can rub it in, but what does he know he's not a doctor.

if it's on your scalp your scalp will absorb it. if you rub it in with your fingers you take away most of the minoxidil. my scalps absorbs the minoxidil without any problem. just let it dry

you take away most of the minoxidil with your fingers??

how big are your fingers?? bigger than your scalp?

If you realy do end up with most of it on your finger tips when you massage it in, try applying it to your finger tips instead and then use your scalp to massage it into your fingers, using the above logic, most of it should end up on your scalp! :hairy:

That Rogaine newsletter cassin posted on the 'I give up' thread says:

Go ahead ... rub it in. After you part your hair in the areas of hair loss, you can spread Rogaine down the part with your fingertip. Then rub Rogaine into your scalp.

also Dr Lee says it's ok to rub the stuff in with your fingers.

I personally rub it in with my fingers and then wipe the stuff on my fingers into my temples.

I also think hopewas method is valid if you don't want to rub.

if you rub it with your fingers, your fingers absorb it. i read a study on that. it's why minoxidil has this plastic applicator you can by. but if you apply it on your scalp and let it dry it'll be fine also.. but chose to do it whatever way you want

what we need is some sort of hollow comb with tiny holes at the tips of each blade that you can fill up with your minoxidil and comb it directly on to your scalp, avoiding getting too much stuff onto your fingers or your hair.

I might try and make something

OK! just made an applicator from a manaquins hand (a lady manaquin) drilled little holes in the finger tips, filled the hand up and scrapped it across my head, works great! although I have only tried it with gravy, I will try it with minoxidil in the morning.

I will be selling these if I can steal enough manaquins, how does $40 sound fellas?, obviously I will need the money up front, PM me if your interested.

I don't rub my minoxidil in. I just apply, let dry, and stay fly my brothas. No grey sh*t in the hair. But I do take a lot of time to apply it, use very small droplets widely dispersed. This is something else I asked Dr Lee about, and his response was something to the effect of do whatever floats your boat, as long as the sh*t hits the scalp you're doing fine but he did recommend rubbing the excess drippage back into the hairline area.

I still think this minoxidil application question would be a great topic for genetic engineering. Perhaps they could create a special species of lice that are genetically engineered to piss minoxidil on your scalp, and don't bite?

When I started I just dabbed it on with no massage/rubbing and it would occasionally run down my forehead, this doesn't realy happen now that I rub it in.

Gardener, I will talk to my lice people tomorrow see what they can do.

Thanks for checking on that, Ty. It just beguiles me.. we can eradicate Polio, transplant human body organs, devise medications that reverse tumor growth, spawn life using cloning, and put a man on the moon but we can't seem to find a way to stop male pattern baldness and can't figure out a way to manufacture a fax machine that will reliably fax ONE PAGE AT A TIME when attempting to fax a document over 20 pages long. Just today I tried to fax a 22 page document, waited several minutes for it to be sent and got a confirmation that "20 Pages were successfully sent". 20 pages out of 22?.. and they have the nerve to associate that with the word "successful"?!? Then comes the big decision of whether or not to just assume that they got it, or, attempt it again and hope that I hit 21, or hopefully a perfect 22 out of 22 pages. Then again, a second attempt might just result in a mediocre 15 pages.. and after several attempts the recipient is more pissed off at having to sort through the seemingly repetitive stack of paper comprising half of the wood of Oregon state sitting in the in-tray of his fax machine, than he is at having a half page or so obscured, etc. I say it's a travesty, and a sham, and a mockery.. its a traveshamockery.
