Should I Be On Some Kind Of Treatment?

See that thread for pics, scroll down a bit more for my worst pic.

Density is fine, crown is fine, hairline is pronounced NW2 by derm. I have no idea if things are getting worse.

I have had hormonal issues, including issues with sexual function, for that reason I think using finasteride would be very unwise. Same applies to RU, I suppose.

I am, however, somewhat considering minoxidil, but I've read scary cases where it rapidly accelerated hair loss. Also, I am simply not sure if I am actively getting worse, as things are, the hair tends to look ok in most circumstances, but I certainly can't allow it to get much worse.

Any insight?

It's 50/50... I have seen people with a similar hairline that remained, but also seen ppl with a receding hairline that looked like yours.

You could use minoxidil - hairline only, but I would recommend you to take pictures fortnightly for next 6 months to assess your hair.

If you see miniaturization, then go straight finasteride and minoxidil and u should be fine as ur hairloss would be only at its beginning.
Once you stabilize, book a hair transplant to fill in you forelock (1000-2500 grafts) with one of those good docs in Turkey that charge 2.5 EUR per graft..

Live happily ever after as there is no price matching anxiety, stress and sleeplessness caused by hairloss....

that frontal picture shoes you have really good hair quality, which tells me you are likely a slow receder. This is a good sign and indicates to me you will likely experience slow recession throughout your life but the frontal portion and elsewhere should remain intact. Unfortunately if you want to do your best to keep your hair where its at, something like finasteride is unavoidable.

I have a very similar hairline and have been on it two years, I havn't noticed any further recession however its such a slow process for me its too early to say whether that is due to finasteride or just how it was meant to be.

Very slick recession, no diffusing going on, as far as I can tell. If I knew it would stay like this until the Japanese are done, I would not give it second thought, but I fear the NW3 territory, because to me, it's transplant-needed territory, and going through all that, if I could just pop a pill or use some foam now, would be a shame.

More input is greatly appreciated.

Would like more opinions. Currently considering waiting and seeing if I recede past NW2 and if so, trying finasteride or CB(depending on availability) and maybe minoxidil, and doing a transplant shortly after being on them for enough time to see results.
The alternative would be trying minoxidil now, but I've read some bad stories of shedding and people ending up below baseline, which also scare me, and it might be better for diffuse thinning, like finasteride.
If CB as a longterm maintenance option was available now I would prob jump on it tomorrow.

-Treating now issues: finasteride sides(much more problematic given my endocrine system and various regulatory things in my body have been quite messed up and are still barely stable), minoxidil dipping below baseline, not liking current hairline anyway and wanting to transplant

-Not treating now and having to do a hair transplant in the future issues: Losing general density and quality, hair transplant triggering telogen effluvium/shock loss, hair transplant recovery time

Ideal scenario: not treating now, having it stay stable, using an upcoming treatment once it comes out and having that get me back to NW1, waiting for RIKEN to get me to a juvenile hairline(which fits my face best).

Thoughts?

you may be right man I'm not a Doctor lol I'm just saying from what I see is you're thinning a bit too which is why I said that... most receders who keep a mature hairline have good density up top.

My density is really good actually. My dad has a high density NW3 now in his 60s, was a NW2 until mid 40s or so.

Curious about more opinions.
