Should Dmso Be Avoided In Topicals Or Is It Safe?

I had the impression DMSO was more benign/less harmful than ethanol for using as a solvent in topicals. Someone even said it might be good because it breaks up fibrosis. DMSO is commonly used in arthritis creams and applied topically for other reasons. Topically for scalp health is the issue though, is it safe for that... But looking at this product data sheet it says they used 10% DMSO solution as a negative control and am I correct in reading that it exerts an extremely harsh negative effect on cell proliferation regarding hair health? So then it should be avoided at all costs? Or is this even relevant to using DMSO as a solvent in a topical? Page 10 it's mentioned and page 14 shows the two graphs. Can someone clear this up for me? Thank you

Just found this thread while searching for DSMO topicals. A "negative control" is a control group where no change is expected, neither positive nor negative. Often this the solvents/carrier used in the same concentrations to make sure they're not affecting the result.

Honestly I have no idea what's going on with the DMSO solution in that study.

Regarding DMSO toxicity, it seems like DMSO is in the same ballpark as ethanol. It varies depending on cell types. Both ethanol and DMSO are used as vehicles for topical drugs today and it's not an issue.
